How to Buy Bitcoin: A Step-by-Step Beginner Guide
How to buy Bitcoin safely: choose a platform, verify your account, fund it, place an order and protect your coins.
Step 1: pick a platform you can trust
Choose a platform that verifies its users, explains its fees clearly and offers a way to contact support. Check that you are on the real website address, and never follow a link from an unsolicited message.
Step 2: create and verify your account
Most platforms ask you to confirm your email and complete identity verification (KYC) before you can trade with real money. This protects you and the platform from fraud. Turn on every security option offered.
Step 3: add funds and place an order
Deposit money or crypto, then open the Bitcoin market. A market order buys immediately at the best available price. A limit order buys only if the price reaches the level you choose. Start with a small amount while you learn.
Step 4: protect what you bought
Use a strong, unique password, keep your one-time codes private and never share a seed phrase. Only keep on a platform what you are comfortable trading; long-term holders often move coins to their own wallet.
Know the risk
Bitcoin's price can move sharply in hours. Never invest money you cannot afford to lose, and consider buying in small amounts over time rather than all at once.
