Crypto Account and Wallet Security Basics
Practical steps to protect your crypto accounts: strong passwords, two-factor authentication, and avoiding scams.
Secure your login
Use a unique, long password and a password manager. Turn on two-factor authentication using an authenticator app rather than SMS where possible.
Beware of phishing
Scammers send fake emails and messages that imitate exchanges and support teams. Never click links in unexpected messages, and never share one-time codes or recovery phrases with anyone. Genuine support will never ask for them.
Withdrawal safety
Double-check addresses and networks before sending. Use withdrawal address whitelisting if it is available, and start with a small test transfer for large amounts.
Self-custody
If you hold your own wallet, the recovery phrase is the key to your funds. Write it down offline, store it safely, and never type it into a website or share it.
